About the position

The Pharmacy Graduate Intern position at Walgreens is designed for individuals who have completed their pharmacy education outside the United States. Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the intern will engage in various pharmacy activities to meet State Board of Pharmacy requirements. The role involves providing consulting services to customers, ensuring proper medication dispensation, and supporting the pharmacy's operational efficiency while enhancing customer experience through healthcare services.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Develop strong relationships with valuable customers by anticipating their needs and proactively offering services.
  • Participate and assist in community events as requested by management.
  • Counsel patients and answer their questions regarding medication usage and side effects under supervision.
  • Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, and medication management.
  • Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy systems and propose enhancements to promote productivity.
  • Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims and follow up with providers as needed.
  • Perform retail, clinical, and wellness services such as immunizations and diabetes awareness.
  • Assist the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and reviewing KPIs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the local medical community and participate in outreach activities.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training, and provide coaching and feedback to team members.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare through continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited University outside the United States.
  • Foreign Pharmacist Graduate Equivalency Certificate (FPGEC).
  • Intern permit/certificate issued by the respective Board of Pharmacy, if required.
  • Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure from the respective Board of Pharmacy within 45 days of completion of intern hours.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willingness to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.
