About the position

The Pharmacy Graduate Intern engages in post-graduate pharmacy activities under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, fulfilling State Board of Pharmacy requirements. This role involves providing pharmacy consulting services, ensuring proper medication management, and enhancing customer experience through healthcare services. The intern supports pharmacy operations, assists in financial optimization, and participates in community outreach, all while developing professional skills and knowledge in the pharmacy field.

Responsibilities

  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices with team members.
  • Develops strong relationships with valuable customers by anticipating needs and offering services.
  • Participates in community events as requested by management.
  • Counsels patients regarding medicine usage, side effects, and interactions under pharmacist supervision.
  • Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding and medication management.
  • Ensures pharmacy operations comply with regulations and company policies.
  • Maintains knowledge of pharmacy systems and proposes enhancements for productivity.
  • Processes insurance claims accurately and follows up with providers.
  • Performs preventive healthcare services such as immunizations and diabetes awareness.
  • Assists pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and inventory management.
  • Develops relationships with local medical community and participates in outreach activities.
  • Partners with Central Pharmacy Operations for customer registration and issue resolution.
  • Conducts virtual product reviews following company procedures.
  • Assists in staff hiring and training, providing coaching and feedback.
  • Maintains current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare.
  • Communicates relevant corporate health and wellness information to pharmacy staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited University outside the United States.
  • Foreign Pharmacist Graduate Equivalency Certificate (FPGEC).
  • Intern permit/certificate issued by the respective Board of Pharmacy, if required.
  • Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure within 45 days of completing intern hours.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willingness to become one within 90 days of hire.
