About the position
The Pharmacy Intern position at Walgreens is designed for individuals enrolled in a pharmacy program who are eager to gain practical experience in a retail pharmacy environment. The role focuses on assisting pharmacists and pharmacy team members in providing excellent patient care while adhering to state and federal regulations. Interns will learn to engage with customers, process prescriptions, and support pharmacy operations, all while developing their skills in customer service and pharmacy practices.
Responsibilities
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
- Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
- Develop strong relationships with customers.
- Assist in the practice of pharmacy under the supervision of the pharmacist.
- Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
- Perform duties as assigned and supervised by the pharmacist in accordance with Walgreens standard operating procedures.
- Assist pharmacists and other healthcare providers in delivering patient care and services.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
- Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist.
- Assist with inventory management activities in the Pharmacy Department.
- Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, and orderly.
- Complete required training and maintain knowledge in healthcare and pharmacy.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Nice-to-haves
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
