About the position

The Pharmacy Intern Year position at Walgreens is designed for pharmacy students to gain practical experience in a retail pharmacy environment. Interns will assist pharmacists and pharmacy team members in providing excellent patient care while adhering to state and federal regulations. The role emphasizes customer service, operational support, and personal development within the pharmacy field.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Develop strong relationships with customers.
• Assist in the practice of pharmacy under the supervision of a pharmacist.
• Perform duties related to entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions as assigned by the pharmacist.
• Assist pharmacists in delivering patient care and services within the state scope of practice for pharmacy interns.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on the cash register and handle cash as required.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention.
• Assist with inventory management activities in the Pharmacy Department.
• Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Complete required training and maintain knowledge in healthcare and pharmacy.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a school of Pharmacy program.
• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
