About the position

The Pharmacy Intern Year position at Walgreens is designed for pharmacy students to gain practical experience in a retail pharmacy environment. Interns will assist pharmacists and pharmacy team members in providing excellent patient care while adhering to state and federal regulations. This role emphasizes customer service, operational support, and personal development within the pharmacy field.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in the practice of pharmacy under the supervision of a pharmacist, complying with state and federal regulations.
• Perform duties related to entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions as assigned by the pharmacist.
• Assist pharmacists in delivering patient care services, including patient counseling and health services.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist immediately and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on the cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Pharmacy Department.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a school of Pharmacy program.
• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment is preferred.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens is preferred.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing.
