Working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will ensure a safe and effective Retail Pharmacy environment that delivers exceptional care to each patient. Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects of pharmacy practice, including patient safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and customer service. You will also be involved in inventory and workflow management, excluding final prescription verification. In this role, you will lead with heart, displaying empathy and compassion for your patients, customers, caregivers, and colleagues. You will seek new ways to grow and collaborate with others to deliver better health outcomes. Your ability to align others around our purpose will be crucial in fostering a team culture that promotes caring, energy, enthusiasm, and pride. As a pharmacy intern, you will be instrumental in adopting and managing patient care programs, ensuring that our customers and patients remain healthy and supported throughout their health journeys.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient safety and compliance with pharmacy professional practice standards.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements and quality assurance protocols.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and caregivers.
  • Manage inventory effectively to ensure availability of medications and supplies.
  • Oversee workflow management in the pharmacy, excluding final prescription verification.
  • Facilitate patient care programs to promote health and wellness.
  • Display empathy and compassion in all interactions with patients and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve health outcomes and foster a supportive work environment.

Requirements

  • Accepted into or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
  • 0-3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must possess or be in the process of obtaining valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to complete all required training within state guidelines and timeframe.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, scan, and bag items as needed.
  • Finger dexterity for tasks such as typing and picking.
  • Ability to reach overhead and grasp items effectively.
  • Precision control for adjusting machines and equipment.
  • Ability to stoop and use lower extremities and back muscles to move items.
  • Close visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing and reading.

Nice-to-haves

  • Immunization eligibility.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Striving to provide patient immunizations once state regulations are met.
