About the position

The position involves providing empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients, focusing on the effective use of medications and awareness of drug interactions. The role includes offering preventive and clinical healthcare services, managing pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and enhancing patient experience. Additionally, the pharmacist will oversee staff performance, training, and development, while also managing pharmacy workflow and financials.

Responsibilities

  • Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve patient issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
  • Lead efforts to enhance patient experience by increasing awareness of healthcare services offered through Walgreens.
  • Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and privacy.
  • Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, and medication management.
  • Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.
  • Establish procedures that promote efficient pharmacy workflow.
  • Collaborate with Store Manager to define and develop new strategic business opportunities.
  • Ensure insurance claims are processed accurately and resolve patient issues with insurance companies.
  • Conduct clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing.
  • Manage the maintenance and improvement of the pharmacy department.
  • Prepare and submit required records and reports to comply with state and federal laws.
  • Collaborate with Store Manager on pharmacy staff hiring and performance management.
  • Monitor and recognize improvements in pharmacy staff and implement rewards programs.
  • Maintain required licensing and enhance knowledge related to pharmacy and healthcare.
  • Support the Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services to pharmacy staff.
  • Analyze performance data including pharmacy financials and customer service.

Requirements

  • BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D Degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
  • Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.
  • At least 1 year pharmacy experience including prescription filling and pharmacy operations.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • An average rating of at least 3.0 on leadership behaviors in the last performance review (internal candidates only).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with pharmacy software and technology systems.
  • Knowledge of insurance billing processes.
