About the position

The Pharmacy Manager at Walgreens is responsible for providing pharmacy consulting services with empathy to patients, ensuring effective medication usage, and promoting awareness of drug interactions. This role encompasses preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations and diagnostic testing, while also managing pharmacy operations and staff performance to enhance patient experience and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members.
• Connects with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
• Participates and assists in events that reflect the unique communities served.
• Counsels patients regarding usage of medicine, side effects, and interactions.
• Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding and drug therapy reviews.
• Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.
• Collaborates with Store Manager to define and develop new strategic business opportunities.
• Maintains current knowledge of pharmacy systems and technology.
• Ensures the accurate processing of insurance claims and follows up with insurance companies.
• Performs clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing.
• Manages the maintenance and improvement of the pharmacy department.
• Prepares and submits all required records and documentation.
• Collaborates with store manager on pharmacy staff hiring and performance management.
• Maintains current knowledge and required licensing/credentialing/certification.
• Supports the Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services.
• Responsible for analyzing performance data and managing pharmacy asset protection activities.
• Develops and maintains good relationships with the local medical community.

Requirements

• BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D Degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
• Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.
• At least 1 year pharmacy experience including prescription filling and pharmacy operations.
• Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
• An average rating of at least 3.0 on the leadership behaviors on the last performance review (internal candidates only).

Nice-to-haves

• Supervisory experience planning, organizing, and directing the work of pharmacy staff.
• At least 6 months pharmacy experience with Walgreen Co.
• An average rating of 3.7 or above on the leadership behaviors on the last performance review (internal candidates only).
