About the position

The position involves managing the implementation of multiple major system and non-system projects that significantly impact members, Customer Service Associates (CSAs), Regional Offices, and employees of The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG) in Northern California and other regions. The role requires forming and leading a multidisciplinary team that includes staff, other KP personnel, outside suppliers, and contract consultants to define project requirements. The ultimate goal is to deliver solutions on time and within budget. The manager will oversee one or more business lines that support the operations, service, and revenue of TPMG and CSAs. Key responsibilities include the concurrent management and success of multiple projects that have regional and interregional impacts on members, TPMG, and KFH/Hp providers and employees. The manager will be responsible for the overall project budget, resources, scope, and all related tasks. Projects may involve implementing new computerized systems, designing and implementing modules to increase membership or reduce costs, and implementing new policy decisions affecting members and providers. The role also involves analyzing project designs, approving expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions when necessary. Additionally, the manager will oversee the development, implementation, and re-engineering of programs designed to improve member service, patient care, and healthcare outcomes. Providing clinical expertise is essential to ensure that proposed changes comply with State and Federal laws regarding pharmacy practices. The manager must adapt to constant changes, make timely decisions, and take responsive actions to ensure project success. Collaboration with Area pharmacy managers, healthcare providers, and other departments within Pharmacy Operations is crucial to develop new strategies for effectively sharing information with all stakeholders. The manager will also seek new opportunities to enhance patient care, member service, health outcomes, fiscal constraints, and revenue growth. Collaboration with outside vendors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies is necessary to effect beneficial changes in policies, prices, and functions for KP. The role also includes assisting the departmental manager in developing long-range plans to achieve desired goals and collaborating with CSA Pharmacy Managers to support their operational and financial objectives.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in an out-patient or in-patient pharmacy.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing concurrent complex projects.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with mainframe and clinical applications, including pharmacy systems.
  • Minimum five (5) years of management/administrative experience in the healthcare arena.
  • Degree in pharmacy from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • California Pharmacist License.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Kaiser Permanente (KP) is helpful.
