About the position

The Pharmacy Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing the ordering, receipt, stocking, and issuing of medications and supplies for various cost centers at the main campus and off-campus clinics. This role involves managing vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing inventory, and supervising the pharmacy supply chain team to deliver effective patient care at the lowest possible cost.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee contract compliance and vendor performance.
  • Reconcile Borrow/Loan exchanges with non-MGH pharmacies.
  • Initiate branded-to-generic conversions and control non-formulary ordering.
  • Resolve invoicing/pricing errors and supervise matching of purchase orders with packing slips.
  • Initiate requests for commodity numbers and oversee weekly cycle counts.
  • Collaborate with Materials Management to ensure timely delivery of orders.
  • Ensure compliance with DSCSA requirements and guidelines.
  • Review interdepartmental charges and assist with monthly financial close.
  • Oversee third-party repackager and advise on make vs. buy decisions.
  • Supervise the drug recall process and monitor alerts.
  • Oversee waste management and hazardous medication disposal.
  • Supervise preventive maintenance of pharmacy areas and ensure compliance with fire codes.
  • Act as point of contact for clinical departments regarding emergency drug cache and vaccines.
  • Collaborate with the 340B Pharmacy Program Team for inventory compliance.

Requirements

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in Massachusetts.
  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy or Master's degree.
  • Completion of ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy or PGY2 Specialty Pharmacy Residency preferred.
  • 5-10 years of supply chain experience required, preferably in healthcare.
  • Leadership experience with formal training or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Expertise in standards and regulations from relevant legal and regulatory bodies.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA, MHA, or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience using integrated EHR systems like Epic or Cerner.
  • Knowledge of contemporary hospital pharmacy systems.
