In this position, you will be responsible for processing orders, maintaining medication stock, and assisting in the training of pharmacy students. You will also engage with patients to gather necessary demographic information and insurance details, ensuring that all data is accurately entered into patient profiles. The role involves operating automation robots for medication dispensing, managing phone inquiries, and participating in quality assurance programs to enhance workflow and minimize medication errors. Responsibilities

  • Provides ancillary/technical assistance to the Pharmacist in an Ambulatory Care setting to support medication distribution to patients.
  • Obtains necessary patient demographic information including insurance coverage and accurately enters it into the patient profile.
  • Processes incoming orders electronically and resolves third-party payment issues, contacting insurance companies as necessary.
  • Packages prescriptions accurately and prepares them for pharmacist review in a timely and organized manner.
  • Maintains and operates the automation robot according to guidelines.
  • Provides phone queue coverage by handling and routing calls in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Enters transfer prescription requests for pharmacist review.
  • Helps customers at both the incoming and outgoing windows by accurately identifying patients according to guidelines and providing excellent customer service within the scope of practice.
  • Maintains drug stock to ensure there are no expired or damaged medications and stocks shelves as required.
  • Participates in the quality assurance program to improve workflow and reduce medication errors.
  • Returns medications not picked up to stock.
  • Assists in the training and mentoring of Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) or Completion of a CMC Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required.
  • RXTECH - State of California Pharmacy Technician License required.
  • CPHT - Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) conversational skills preferred.
