About the position

CoxHealth, a leading Magnet designated healthcare system serving 25 counties in Missouri, is seeking motivated individuals for the role of Pharmacy Technician Apprentice. This one-year apprenticeship program is designed to develop entry-level skills and prepare candidates for certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, apprentices will assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and managing patient records. They will gain comprehensive knowledge and skills through diverse pharmacy settings, including inpatient, retail, and specialty areas, while completing a 16-week certification course to prepare for the certification exam. Specific responsibilities include accurately entering prescription data, selecting correct products, presenting completed prescriptions to pharmacists for verification, and interacting with patients and hospital staff to ensure quality service. Individuals must be team-oriented with strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, and must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a willingness to learn and adapt to various pharmacy areas. This position is ideal for those looking to start their career in pharmacy and gain valuable hands-on experience in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • No prior pharmacy technician experience required.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Direct customer and patient interaction experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Registered with the Missouri State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician or application completed upon hire and obtained within 90 days of hire.
