About the position

As a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Food City, you will play a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy operations and ensuring that customers receive the highest level of service. Your primary responsibilities will include the successful completion of the required coursework and examination for certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT). You will be authorized to receive oral prescriptions from prescribers or their authorized designees, provided that this is allowed by state regulations and authorized by the Pharmacist in Charge. This will primarily involve handling new telephone prescriptions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations. In addition to prescription management, you will be responsible for providing and promoting efficient and courteous service to customers at all times. This includes answering telephone inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise, receiving written prescriptions, and processing telephone refill requests. You will gather necessary information to prepare prescriptions, record essential details before dispensing, and store written prescription forms post-dispensing. Data entry into the computer system is a critical part of your role, as is stocking over-the-counter products and placing completed prescriptions in the designated pick-up area. You will also assist in preparing insurance claims and verifying payments, helping customers locate over-the-counter products, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Your role may involve additional duties as assigned, including operating the cash register and assisting in maintaining pharmacy department supplies.
