Responsibilities

  • Dispense medications accurately and efficiently under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Maintain familiarity with a large number of medications and ensure attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Provide friendly and accurate service to patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new pharmacy staff as needed.
  • Participate in the Pharmacy Service Line competencies within the first six months of hire.
  • Solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment.
  • Budget time effectively and work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Successful completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training course is preferred.
  • Previous pharmacy work experience is preferred.
  • Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals is required.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification is required within 9 months of hire.
  • Ability to maintain familiarity with a large number of medications (1000-2000).
  • Customer service orientation and strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment and procedures, including computer/keyboard usage.
