As a Certified Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining familiarity with a large number of medications, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in your work. You will also be expected to complete Pharmacy Service Line competencies within six months of hire, and to obtain the necessary licensure and certification as required by the state of Virginia. This role requires a strong customer service orientation and the ability to solve logistical problems efficiently. You will work in a dynamic environment, often requiring you to budget your time effectively and follow established procedures with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense medications accurately and efficiently under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Provide friendly and accurate service to patients and healthcare providers.
  • Maintain familiarity with a large number of medications (1000-2000) and ensure attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Complete Pharmacy Service Line competencies within six months of hire.
  • Assist in solving simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment.
  • Utilize general office equipment and procedures, including computer/keyboard operations.
  • Participate in orientation competencies and ongoing training as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Successful completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training course is preferred.
  • Previous pharmacy work experience is preferred.
  • Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals is required.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification is required within 9 months of hire.
  • Ability to maintain familiarity with a large number of medications and focus on attention to detail/accuracy.
  • Customer service orientation is essential.
  • Knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures, including computer/keyboard operations.
