As a Pharmacy Technician, you will work under the direct supervision of the pharmacist(s) and assist in all pharmacy operations' functions. This includes the preparation and distribution of all doses of medication, maintenance of drug inventories, and completion of patients' records pertaining to drug therapy. Your role is crucial in ensuring that the pharmacy operates efficiently and that patients receive the correct medications in a timely manner. You will be responsible for tasks such as re-stocking automated dispensing cabinets throughout the hospital, drug packaging and re-packaging, extemporaneous compounding, and code cart re-stocking. This position requires attention to detail and a commitment to providing high-quality care to our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of all doses of medication.
  • Maintain drug inventories, including re-stocking automated dispensing cabinets throughout the hospital.
  • Perform drug packaging and re-packaging as needed.
  • Engage in extemporaneous compounding of medications.
  • Re-stock code carts as required.
  • Complete patients' records pertaining to drug therapy, including aminoglycoside protocol orders and drug charges & credits.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of clinical experience in a related field, preferred.
  • Must be a registered pharmacy technician with the state of Alabama.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the pharmacy field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous hospital experience preferred.
