About the position

The Pharmacy Technician position at Price Chopper involves assisting licensed pharmacists in the preparation and data entry of prescriptions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. The role includes providing excellent customer service, managing inventory, and performing administrative duties within the pharmacy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fast, friendly, helpful, and efficient customer service to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Obtain information for new prescriptions, including insurance details and patient demographics.
  • Accurately interpret prescriptions and enter data into the dispensing computer system.
  • Reconcile third-party insurance billing issues for proper reimbursement.
  • Retrieve, count, and measure drugs, ensuring proper packaging according to regulations.
  • Assist in inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications.
  • Answer phones to obtain prescription refill information and refer patient inquiries to the pharmacist.
  • Operate the cash register and manage transactions including cash, checks, and credit card charges.
  • Perform administrative duties as required by the pharmacy.
  • Complete the Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician Program successfully.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station according to 5S standards.

Requirements

  • Good mathematical skills and reading abilities.
  • Willingness to take direction and accept responsibility.
  • Knowledge of prescription sig codes and abbreviations.
  • Ability to calculate days supply of medications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with prescription dispensing computer systems.
  • Good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous pharmacy experience (1 year preferred).
