About the position

The Pharmacy Technician position at Price Chopper involves working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to assist in the data entry and preparation of prescriptions with a focus on accuracy and efficiency. The role is crucial in ensuring that customers receive their medications promptly and correctly, while also providing excellent customer service. The technician will be responsible for various tasks including obtaining information for new prescriptions, interpreting prescriptions accurately, and entering data into the prescription dispensing computer system. Additionally, the technician will handle third-party insurance billing issues, retrieve and measure drugs, and ensure proper inventory management, including ordering and stocking medications and pharmacy supplies. Customer service is a key component of this role, as the technician will interact with customers to provide assistance, answer questions, and ensure a positive shopping experience. This includes answering phone calls for prescription refills and addressing any inquiries that do not require the pharmacist's professional judgment. The technician will also operate the cash register, manage transactions, and maintain a clean and organized work environment according to company standards. The position requires participation in the Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician Program and involves developing positive relationships with both customers and fellow employees. The technician must adhere to all company policies and procedures while performing other related duties as assigned by management. This role is essential in supporting the pharmacy's operations and ensuring compliance with state regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fast, friendly, helpful, and efficient customer service at all times.
  • Obtain information for new prescriptions including insurance details and patient information.
  • Accurately interpret prescriptions and enter data into the dispensing computer system.
  • Reconcile third-party insurance billing issues for proper reimbursement.
  • Retrieve, count, and measure drugs, ensuring proper packaging and safety compliance.
  • Manage inventory ordering, receiving, and stocking of medications and supplies.
  • Answer phones to obtain prescription refill information and refer patient inquiries to the pharmacist.
  • Operate cash register and manage various payment methods and logs.
  • Perform administrative duties of the pharmacy as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station according to 5S standards.
  • Present a professional image to patients, adhering to dress code and nametag requirements.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of preliminary knowledge and skills assessment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
