About the position
The Pharmacy Technician position at Orlando Health - Health Central Hospital involves assisting with operational and distribution responsibilities within the pharmacy department. This entry-level role is designed for individuals with a high school diploma or GED, and no prior experience is required. The technician will support pharmacists in medication distribution and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist with operational and distribution responsibilities related to the pharmacy.
- Demonstrate understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
- Familiarize with the general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
- Identify and utilize resource persons and departments for customer service and patient care.
- Operate equipment required for pharmacy procedures according to safety regulations and policies.
- Perform basic Pharmacy Technician procedures consistent with scientific principles and Orlando Health policies.
- Assist the Pharmacist in medication distribution, including drug procurement and aseptic techniques for admixture of medications.
- Maintain USP 797 standards and other regulatory documentation.
- Ensure safe handling and proper disposal of medications.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
