About the position
Baptist Health Oncology/Hematology Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in filling and preparing medication orders. The role involves performing both hazardous and non-hazardous IV compounding with a high degree of accuracy. The Pharmacy Technician will also function as a purchasing agent for medications and supplies, and will be responsible for the acquisition, preparation, and disposal of high-risk hazardous materials. Compliance with EPA regulations regarding the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials is also a key responsibility of this position.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacist in filling and preparation of medication orders
- Perform hazardous and non-hazardous IV compounding with high accuracy
- Function as purchasing agent for medications and supplies
- Responsible for acquisition, preparation, and disposal of high-risk hazardous materials
- Ensure compliance with EPA regulations pertaining to handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- National Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required within 6 months of hire
- Registration with Kentucky Board of Pharmacy (KY hospitals) within 30 days of hire date if a new registrant
- Minimum of three years experience as Pharmacy Technician preferred
- Previous sterile compounding experience preferred
- Knowledgeable of medications (dosage forms, brand and generic names)
