About the position

Baptist Health is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician I or II to join our team at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, AL. As the largest healthcare system serving central Alabama, we provide comprehensive hospital-based and outpatient services to nearly 60 percent of the residents in Montgomery, Autauga, and Elmore counties. The Pharmacy Technician will play a crucial role in the medication use process, assisting pharmacists in the preparation and compounding of pharmaceutical products. This position involves assessing the inventory of pharmacy products, resolving issues with insurance claims during the dispensing function, and performing various technical functions related to medication management. The Pharmacy Technician may also be assigned additional duties as needed to support the pharmacy operations. The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED and current registration with the Alabama Board of Pharmacy. For the Pharmacy Technician II position, one year of pharmacy technician experience is required, along with CPhT certification, which must be obtained within 90 days of hire for the Pharmacy Technician I role. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to maintain a professional demeanor and provide excellent customer service, even in challenging situations. Strong organizational skills, proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations, and familiarity with pharmacy systems and technology are essential for success in this role. The Pharmacy Technician will also be expected to communicate effectively with various stakeholders within the organization and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Current registration with the Alabama Board of Pharmacy required.
  • One year of pharmacy technician experience required for Tech II position.
  • CPhT certification required for Tech II or obtained within 90 days of hire for Tech I.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and customer-centric composure in difficult situations.
  • Ability to prioritize workload for maximum efficiency.
