About the position

The Pharmacy Tech I (Overnight) position at Advocate Aurora Health involves a variety of clerical, distributive, technical, and data-gathering duties aimed at providing medications to patients while supporting pharmacists and other technicians. The role is crucial in ensuring that medications are dispensed and delivered accurately and in a timely manner. The technician will demonstrate competence in using automated dispensing and storage devices, troubleshoot any dispensing issues that arise, and prepare both non-sterile and sterile products in accordance with USP standards. In addition to dispensing medications, the Pharmacy Tech I will be responsible for accurately entering medication orders into the computer system and effectively navigating the electronic medical record to facilitate patient care. The position requires the utilization of automation and technology to maintain equipment in a safe and effective working condition, serving as a resource for other pharmacy associates and nurses who rely on this technology. The technician will also address customer and team member concerns promptly, triaging phone calls from nurses, physicians, or patients, and ensuring that issues are understood and resolved in a timely manner or appropriately handed off to another team member. Training and knowledge sharing with pharmacy team members, residents, and students is also a key responsibility, helping them to perform their duties according to established policies and procedures. The Pharmacy Tech I will actively support departmental initiatives, including performance improvement activities and participation in department committees or shared governance activities. Compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards is essential, including adherence to controlled substance procedures, USP procedures, and DNV requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • 1 year of experience in a pharmacy or related field
