The Pharmacy Technician I position at Cook Children's Medical Center is a full-time role located in Fort Worth, TX, where the primary responsibility is to assist pharmacists in delivering professional pharmacy services to patients and staff. The technician will engage in various clerical tasks, including answering phones, recording, filing, and reporting pharmacy activities and services. In addition to clerical duties, the Pharmacy Technician I will perform technical tasks that require a certain level of experience and competency. These tasks will be carried out under the direct supervision of an experienced pharmacist, ensuring that all activities comply with established protocols and standards. The technician will be expected to demonstrate competence in several pharmacy production areas, including the Central PO area, compounding, narcotics transactions, Omnicell refills, and compliance audits. It is essential that the technician maintains documentation of their training and skills, as this will be required before they can work independently. The position requires a basic understanding of math, the metric system, pharmaceutical chemistry, and medical terminology. Additionally, a general knowledge of office procedures, such as filling and record-keeping, is necessary. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or enrollment in an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy. Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy as a Technician or a Texas Pharmacy Intern License is also required, with ACPE IV certification preferred but not mandatory.
