Responsibilities

  • Support the Pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical care to patients.
  • Interact routinely with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, nursing staff, physicians, patients, and vendors.
  • Maintain familiarity with a large number of medications (1000-2000) and ensure accuracy in dispensing.
  • Solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment.
  • Budget time effectively and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Complete orientation competencies and maintain required certifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Successful completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training course is preferred.
  • Previous pharmacy work experience is preferred, with one year of pharmacy experience required for Registrar I.
  • Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals is required.
  • Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician certification is required within 9 months of hire.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer service orientation and effective communication skills.
