About the position

The Pharmacy Technician II position at Home Care Pharmacy involves assisting pharmacists in various activities related to medication management and patient care. The technician will be responsible for medication profile reviews, which include checking for drug incompatibilities, typing prescription labels, and packaging prescriptions for delivery. Additionally, the technician will handle purchase records and inventory control, ensuring that the pharmacy is well-stocked and organized. Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, the technician may also dispense medications to patients, adhering to state laws and hospital policies. In this role, the technician will assist pharmacists in communicating with families regarding medication orders, monitoring these orders, and ensuring that medications and supplies are packed appropriately for delivery. The technician will also perform outpatient phone triage, which involves addressing patient inquiries and concerns over the phone. Claims adjudication will be a part of the technician's responsibilities, requiring proficiency in the dispensing system to process insurance claims effectively. Furthermore, the technician will conduct medication storage inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. The position also includes compounding responsibilities, where the technician may perform sterile compounding or hazardous compounding as required. Under an authorized program, the technician may check the work of another pharmacy technician, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols. Managing medication doses on nursing units in decentralized pharmacy operations is another key responsibility, as is performing home care phone triage to assist patients and families with their medication needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Certified via Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
