About the position

The Pharmacy Tech II position at Cheshire Medical Center involves performing routine and specialized technical and clerical duties for drug distribution to patients under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. This role is essential in ensuring the accurate preparation and distribution of medications, as well as providing customer service and support within the pharmacy department.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones and triage customer service issues.
  • Prepare prescription and non-prescription medication and/or devices.
  • Stock and replenish stock locations and automated dispensing machines (ADMs) and/or robots.
  • Serve as a preceptor and assist with orientation and training of pharmacy department staff.
  • Communicate supply issues, problems, or discrepancies appropriately.
  • Assist in revising policy and procedure.
  • Deliver medications to beds or patient care areas.
  • Perform purchasing and billing functions.
  • Establish and maintain training materials.
  • Prepare intravenous admixtures or other sterile drug products in accordance with USP chapter under supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
  • Prepare or compound non-sterile, non-antineoplastic drug products in accordance with USP chapter under supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
  • Maintain the hardware and software of the department's multiple computer systems.
  • Electronically process prescription orders and prepare prescriptions for verification by a pharmacist.
  • Process third party claims.
  • Perform duties in the call center, mail order processing, and take verbal orders from providers.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in a health or related field, with 1 year of pharmacy experience, or equivalent in education and experience preferred.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment with accuracy.
  • Strong customer service skills, including phone interactions.
  • Ability to multitask and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the NH Board of Pharmacy required.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required.
  • BLS Certification required within 30 days of hire for Pharmacy Technicians in the Retail or Specialty Pharmacy.
