About the position

The Pharmacy Technician II at Arkansas Children's Hospital plays a crucial role in supporting pharmacists and healthcare professionals in the medication delivery system. This position involves preparing and refilling medication doses, including oral, injectable, and IV solutions, while ensuring accurate and timely processing of orders. The technician is expected to master advanced practice competencies and communicate effectively with staff to resolve any issues related to medication preparation and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication and IVs, fills order requests, cart fills, and refills efficiently and accurately.
• Processes orders safely, prioritizing needs, repackaging and labeling medications appropriately.
• Fills emergency and stat orders in a timely manner.
• Performs controlled substances responsibilities including delivery, inventory, returns, preparation, and labeling.
• Communicates with other hospital staff to provide information and resolve issues to improve patient care.
• Maintains drug storage areas to ensure items are stored in a clean and orderly manner.
• Performs aseptic and clean procedures when processing sterile and non-sterile medication orders.
• Documents fill list, manufacturing and repackaging, and assists with stocking and inventory control.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• 1 year of direct work experience required.
• Pharmacy Technician certification from the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy required.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
