Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that pharmacy activities and regulatory tasks are executed in a timely manner, adhering to the required guidelines, policies, and procedures. The Pharmacy Technician will maintain and optimize the automated dispensing systems and temperature monitoring systems, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently. In addition, the technician will assist pharmacists in preparing IV admixtures, filling medication requests, and managing pharmacy inventory, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the pharmacy department. In this role, the Pharmacy Technician will take on a leadership and advisory position within the pharmacy technician group, focusing on work processes and practices, training, scheduling, performance standards, continuing education, and competency validation. The technician will also represent the pharmacy at various meetings and assist in coordinating the use of the automated drug distribution system, including database management, resetting par and reorder levels, and cabinet optimization. Furthermore, the technician will ensure the proper operation of the IDS automated dispensing system and temperature monitoring system, including alarm monitoring and reporting. The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for accurately preparing medications for pharmacists to check, ensuring that all necessary auxiliary labels are included and that the final check and signature documentation by a pharmacist occurs before delivery. The technician will also be expected to prepare sterile products with precision, adhering to aseptic techniques at all times, and will be responsible for selecting the appropriate drug products required for sterile preparations. Additionally, the technician may assist with purchasing activities and support other areas within the pharmacy as needed, making this a dynamic and integral role within our healthcare team.
