The Pharmacy Tech II position plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective distribution of medications within the hospital. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Tech II is responsible for the preparation and distribution of all medication orders, adhering to hospital policies, standard practices of the profession, and State and Federal laws and regulations. This role is vital in maintaining the quality and safety of patient care, and the Pharmacy Tech II must demonstrate a strong commitment to the core values of Dignity Health. The position is represented by SEIU Local UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute medication orders according to hospital policies and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal laws regarding medication distribution.
  • Maintain accurate records of medication orders and distributions.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and their families regarding medication-related inquiries.
  • Assist in maintaining the pharmacy's inventory and supplies.

Requirements

  • Six months of previous hospital pharmacy experience.
  • High School graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Valid Registered State Board of Pharmacy Technician license (CT PHRMTEC).
  • Competency certification in I.V. admixture preparation and compounding required upon hire or within 30 days of hire.
