Maryland Oncology Hematology is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to join our dedicated team. This position is crucial in providing advanced cancer care in a supportive and passionate environment. The Pharmacy Technician II will work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist within a licensed pharmacy, performing essential technical tasks related to medication preparation, distribution, record keeping, and inventory control. It is important to note that certain tasks may be regulated by state law, which may limit the responsibilities of some incumbents based on their licensure status. In this role, the Pharmacy Technician II will be responsible for preparing medication orders, ensuring completeness of information, verifying patient details, and obtaining proper physician authorization. The technician will also check for insurance approvals before proceeding with medication admixture, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accordance with departmental guidelines. The position involves calculating correct dosage volumes, maintaining drug information, and ensuring proper disposal of materials used in the preparation of chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy IVs. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for maintaining accurate logs, conducting quality assurance activities, and assisting in inventory control of medications. The work environment is dynamic and requires a full range of body motion, including manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination. The technician will regularly interact with patients and may be exposed to toxic substances and medicinal preparations.
