About the position

Pharmacy technicians assist and support licensed pharmacists in providing health care and medications to patients. They play a crucial role in the pharmacy by ensuring that medications are prepared accurately and efficiently. Pharmacy technicians must possess a broad knowledge of pharmacy practice, which includes understanding medication types, dosages, and the proper techniques required to order, stock, package, compound, and otherwise prepare medications. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, as pharmacy technicians often handle multiple tasks simultaneously. They may also be responsible for maintaining inventory levels, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and providing excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers. Other duties may be assigned as needed, which can include administrative tasks and assisting with the training of new staff members.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacists in providing health care and medications to patients.
• Order, stock, package, and compound medications as required.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure compliance with health regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
• Assist in the training of new pharmacy staff as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a hospital pharmacy technician preferred.
• Completion of an ACPE or ASHP accredited course in compounding sterile preparations preferred.
• Certification as indicated by the Steward Certification document is required.
• Pharmacy Technician with 0 - 1 years of experience for entry-level positions.
• Pharmacy Technician II with 1 - 3 years of experience for mid-level positions.
• Pharmacy Technician III with 4 or more years of experience, generally with supervisory responsibilities.
