About the position

As a Pharmacy Tech III Certified at AdventHealth Orlando, you will play a crucial role in the medication distribution process and pharmacy operations. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting pharmacists with preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will be expected to actively participate in outstanding customer service, maintaining respectful relationships with all stakeholders. This position requires you to perform various operational tasks necessary for the effective daily functioning of the pharmacy department, including accurately responding to medication dispensing requests, preparing medications for pharmacist review, and managing the return of unused or expired medications to the appropriate areas within the pharmacy. In this role, you will also be responsible for maintaining proficiency in standard work parameters and hospital-specific computer systems. You will need to provide coverage in at least two operational areas, such as central pharmacy operations, sterile compounding, or automated dispensing cabinet delivery. Additionally, you will be involved in handling controlled substances and may also be required to perform quality assurance tasks and inventory checks. Your expertise will contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the pharmacy services provided to the community, which includes a diverse patient population served by one of the busiest hospitals in the nation. Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with preparing and dispensing medications.
  • Manage inventory and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Respond accurately to medication dispensing requests.
  • Prepare medications for pharmacist final review/check.
  • Deliver checked medications and return unused or expired medications to appropriate pharmacy areas.
  • Maintain proficiency in standard work parameters and hospital-specific computer systems.
  • Provide coverage in at least two operational areas such as central pharmacy operations or sterile compounding.
  • Handle controlled substances and perform quality assurance tasks as needed.
  • Conduct medication history and support clinical services.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of hospital pharmacy experience (retail or ambulatory experience acceptable for medication history function).
  • Current certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or equivalent.
  • Applicable State Pharmacy Technician Registration (RPT).
  • Sterile Compounding Certification, if applicable per state legislation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree or technical degree in a related field or specific certification related to the position, preferably in a physical science, business, or healthcare.
