About the position

The Pharmacy Tech III position at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a full-time role within the Pharmacy Bayfront Outpatient department. This position is accountable to the outpatient manager or operating pharmacist, who is responsible for the care and safety of patients served by Pharmaceutical Services. The Pharmacy Technician will perform all activities related to traditional pharmacy prescription dispensing and medication distribution. This includes participating in the computer entries of medications and prescriptions, including specialty medications in the patient profile as directed by a Pharmacist. The role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety, as well as effective communication and collaboration with healthcare professionals. In this fast-paced environment, the Pharmacy Tech III will be expected to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities related to traditional pharmacy prescription dispensing and medication distribution.
  • Participate in computer entries of medications and prescriptions, including specialty medications in the patient profile as directed by a Pharmacist.

  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment under constant pressure.

  • Ensure compliance with state regulations and institutional policies regarding pharmacy operations.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized/accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
  • Two years of experience in a Specialty Pharmacy and/or in a retail/community pharmacy, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good communication skills, both over the telephone and in person.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse population.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under constant pressure.
  • Ability to use good judgment in responding to or referring questions by nurses, physicians, and other professional personnel.
  • Knowledge, skills, and ability to perform basic computer entries.
  • Basic math skills.
