Duke University Hospital is the largest of Duke Health's three hospitals, featuring 1,048 patient beds, 65 operating rooms, and comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic facilities, including a regional emergency/trauma center and an endo-surgery center. We are currently seeking an Automatic Dispensing Cabinet Coordinator to join our Inpatient Operations pharmacy team. This role is crucial in managing and maintaining our medication dispensing systems and code carts, ensuring efficient and accurate medication distribution, system maintenance, and compliance with safety standards across various sites, including off-site Duke Health Integrated Practice (DHiP) locations, for 50% of the time. The Automatic Dispensing Cabinet Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining Automatic Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs), which includes managing and replenishing inventory, monitoring medication expirations, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The coordinator will also administer user profile configurations and access rights, conduct regular inspections, and perform maintenance tasks on ADCs. Additionally, the role involves addressing medication shortages, recalls, and dispensing errors, supporting the deployment of new Omnicell systems, and overseeing monthly inventory assessments. The coordinator will develop and revise policy and procedure documents governing ADC operations and provide training to pharmacy technicians on best practices. In managing code carts, the coordinator will inspect, build, and track code carts to ensure they are compliant and ready for emergency use. This includes auditing and replenishing inventory in code carts in alignment with DUH Pharmacy's Code Blue policy. The coordinator will also travel to off-site DHiP locations to replenish and troubleshoot code carts and ADCs, formulate policy documentation for code cart management, and provide specialized training to pharmacy technicians on emergency preparedness protocols. Additional duties include staffing the inpatient operations pharmacy, liaising with Omnicell support, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This position offers a $5,000 commitment bonus for newly hired team members.
