About the position

The Pharmacy Tech III position at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center is designed to assist pharmacists in the daily operations of the pharmacy department, which includes responsibilities in inpatient areas, outpatient community pharmacies, and clinical settings. The role is crucial in ensuring that pharmacy services are delivered efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall health management of patients. The technician will engage in various tasks that support the pharmacist and enhance patient care, including performing point of care (POC) testing, managing patient charts, and ensuring timely patient visits. In this role, the technician will be expected to maintain competencies related to POC equipment and basic clinical functions, such as blood pressure monitoring. They will also handle scheduling, registration, and billing functions associated with the Disease Management Center, ensuring that all administrative tasks are completed accurately. The technician will be responsible for organizing and monitoring patient charts, following up with patients as necessary, and collecting and tabulating outcomes data to support clinical decisions. The position requires the technician to perform all functions of a pharmacy technician in outpatient community pharmacies and integrated care settings, as well as basic inpatient pharmacy functions, excluding sterile product preparation. Continuous professional development is emphasized, as the technician must maintain pharmacy certification by completing the necessary continuing education units (CEUs) and may be involved in multidisciplinary committees within the hospital. A positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills are essential, as the technician will support fellow staff members and maintain professional relationships with healthcare professionals and patients alike.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all point of care (POC) testing functions and maintain required competencies related to POC equipment and basic clinical functions.
  • Handle all scheduling, registration, and billing functions associated with the Disease Management Center.
  • Organize, maintain, and monitor patient charts, ensuring timely patient visits and follow-ups as necessary.
  • Perform all functions of a pharmacy technician in outpatient community pharmacies.
  • Execute all functions of an integrated care technician.
  • Carry out basic inpatient pharmacy technician functions, excluding sterile product preparation.
  • Maintain pharmacy certification by completing necessary CEUs and participate in extra projects.
  • Support fellow staff members and maintain a positive attitude, promoting good relations among pharmacy staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a pharmacy technician training program and certification with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 6 months of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician preferred.
