About the position

The Pharmacy Tech III position at Blanchard Valley Hospital involves assisting pharmacists with daily pharmacy operations, including prescription filling, inventory management, and maintaining medication safety. The role requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Enters and fills prescriptions timely and accurately, filing them according to legal requirements.
• Performs pharmacy billing functions and delivers floor stock items/narcotics as appropriate.
• Fills physician orders manually and using a robot, ensuring accuracy in medication order entry.
• Maintains a clean work environment and ensures sterility during IV preparation, including handling cytotoxic agents.
• Maintains inventory control and uses computer software for ordering medications.
• Checks for outdated products and performs unit inspections to maintain medication integrity.
• Completes necessary continuing education units (CEUs) to maintain pharmacy certification and participates in multidisciplinary committees.
• Supports fellow staff members and promotes good relations within the pharmacy team.

Requirements

• High school graduate with demonstrated Math/Science skills.
• Completion of a pharmacy technician training program and registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to enter outpatient pharmacy prescriptions into the current computer system.
• Ability to mix chemotherapy medications and IV products accurately.
• Typing and computer skills are required.
• Ability to perform short jobs and repetitive activities with accuracy.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and perform various physical activities such as pushing, pulling, climbing, and kneeling.
• Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician preferred.
