About the position
The Pharmacy Technician position at MDC involves performing a variety of pharmacy technician duties under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role encompasses both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, including training other technicians, conducting audits, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy practices and regulations. The technician will also assist in patient care across various age groups and maintain accurate records and data related to medication management.
Responsibilities
- Assist with pharmacy technician I and II training, audits, project assignments, and other related duties.
- Answer the pharmacy phone line and enter patient information into the pharmacy management system.
- Order medications from wholesalers and manage inventory.
- Coordinate medication-related issues for patients, providers, and clinic staff.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of pharmacy software and hardware systems.
- Attend professional group meetings to stay updated on trends and innovations.
- Maintain and monitor patient assistance programs for indigent patients.
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of medications, including IV solutions and sterile products.
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures within the pharmacy.
- Maintain logs and records for narcotic inventory and controlled substances.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of various reports and audits.
- Perform cashier duties and manage billing for outpatient services.
Requirements
- High School or GED Equivalent
- Completion of Hospital Pharmacy Technician Training or equivalent
- Certified Pharmacy Technician in NM within 60 days
- 2 years of directly related experience
Nice-to-haves
- Bilingual in English and Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience in pharmacy technician roles
