About the position
The Pharmacy Tech III position at GENESIS Health System involves assisting pharmacists in outpatient prescription services, including prescription preparation, insurance processing, billing, and inventory management. The role emphasizes providing excellent customer service and requires proficiency in pharmacy systems to manage patient and drug information. The technician is expected to maintain high training standards and mentor new and existing staff while being adaptable to special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist in outpatient prescription services including prescription preparation and insurance processing.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention to the pharmacist.
- Manage equipment and supply inventory tasks.
- Utilize pharmacy computer systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
- Maintain a high level of training and mentor both new and existing staff.
- Take on special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- More than 3 years of experience as a pharmacy technician required.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician certification required.
- Iowa and/or Illinois Board of Pharmacy Registration within 30 days of hire.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Immunization Certification through an accredited organization within 6 months of hire.
Nice-to-haves
- Sterile Compounding Experience preferred.
- Pharmacy Billing Experience preferred.
Benefits
- Per diem pay structure with hourly rates ranging from $18.79 to $28.19.
