The Pharmacy Technician/Trainee position at South Texas Health System involves working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to assist in various activities within the pharmacy department. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the pharmacist in daily operations, which includes preparing medications for patients, managing inventory levels, and ensuring that all pharmacy activities comply with legal and regulatory standards. The position requires a strong commitment to compliance with the South Texas Health System's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, which includes attending required training sessions and reporting any suspected compliance issues to the Compliance Officer. The ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals is essential, as is the capacity to adapt to changes in the work environment and prioritize tasks effectively. Candidates for this position should possess a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for those holding an Associate's Degree. A current Texas State Pharmacy Technician Registration is required, and candidates should ideally have two years of hospital experience or at least one year of IV experience. Additionally, successful completion of an ASHP IV certification or an ACPE/ASHP accredited program within 180 days of hire is necessary for those not already certified. This position may also require travel as part of the job responsibilities.
