About the position

The Pharmacy Tech IV position at the John B. Amos Cancer Center, part of Piedmont Healthcare, is a critical role responsible for the preparation and admixture of medications to IV solutions. This position requires the technician to prepare unit dose syringes, chemotherapy medications, and compound solutions and medications that are essential for use in critical care and operating room satellite areas. The technician must maintain adequate stock levels in assigned areas to ensure that all necessary medications are readily available. The role functions in accordance with established standard written procedures, guidelines, and both state and federal regulations, ensuring compliance and safety in all pharmacy operations. Additionally, the Pharmacy Tech IV collaborates with pharmacy and technical staff to define and document business rules and best practices, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the pharmacy department. The technician may also be required to perform duties typical of a Pharmacy Technician as needed, showcasing versatility and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and admixture medications to IV solutions.
  • Prepare unit dose syringes and chemotherapy medications.
  • Compound solutions and medications for critical care and OR satellite areas.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels in assigned areas.
  • Function in accordance with standard written procedures, guidelines, and state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy and technical staff to define and document business rules and best practices.
  • Perform duties of a Pharmacy Technician as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous pharmacy technician experience with IV admixtures preferred.
  • Current registration with the state Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician required.

Nice-to-haves

  • IV chemotherapy preparation experience preferred.
  • PTCB Certification preferred.
