The Pharmacy Technician Non-Certified position at Beacon Health System is a full-time role located at 615 North Michigan Street, South Bend, IN. In this role, the pharmacy technician will receive prescriptions from patients, gather complete information, and enter it into the Pharmacy Information System. They will fill patient prescriptions accurately, affixing cautionary statements and explanation labels as needed, and ensure that each prescription is checked by a pharmacist before distribution. The technician will also handle insurance claims, facilitate successful prescription claim processing, and utilize the IVR system to enhance workflow efficiencies. Safety is paramount, and the technician will use barcode scanning technology to ensure the highest levels of patient safety. The position also involves inventory management, where the technician will check supplies for outdated items, balance cash drawers, and assist with financial reporting. They will be responsible for ordering quality inventory, maintaining efficient inventory levels, and processing returnable goods for credit. Customer service is a key component of this role, as the technician will answer phone calls, triage customer inquiries, and work cooperatively with other departments to provide requested medications and supplies. Additionally, the pharmacy technician will participate in the orientation of new staff, assist in compliance activities, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the department. The role requires a commitment to ongoing education and maintaining licensure in good standing. The working conditions may involve exposure to minor operating equipment and chemical solution hazards, and the technician will be expected to work rotating weekends as part of their schedule.
