About the position

The Pharmacy Technician - Customer Service Associate position is an exciting opportunity for skilled pharmacy technicians looking to leverage their pharmaceutical knowledge and patient service expertise in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role is crucial in ensuring that patients receive the assistance they need throughout the refill process, making it a vital part of the healthcare delivery system. The Pharmacy Service Representative will be responsible for managing inbound pharmacy phone calls and placing outbound patient refill calls, ensuring that patients are guided through the entire refill process efficiently and effectively. In this role, you will be tasked with responding to patient requests and inquiries regarding prescription drug plan coverage and fulfillment through the pharmacy. You will conduct status checks on prescriptions and assist pharmacies in properly adjudicating electronic prescription drug claims while resolving any adjudication error messages that may arise. Providing knowledgeable and courteous customer assistance is paramount, as you will be the point of contact between patients, pharmacy team members, clinical providers, and various internal functional areas. Your ability to communicate effectively and empathetically will be essential in this position, as you will be addressing the needs and concerns of patients and healthcare providers alike. The position requires strong organizational skills, as you will need to manage, organize, and update relevant data using database applications. You will also be responsible for clarifying prescription orders with pharmacists and/or clinicians as appropriate, ensuring that all medication refills are coordinated accurately and efficiently. This role is not only about technical skills but also about building relationships and providing exceptional service to patients and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Answer, resolve and triage inbound inquiries.
  • Make outbound patient refill phone calls and complete the patient refill request.
  • Coordinate medication refills including data entry and pharmacy claim adjudication.
  • Clarify prescription orders with pharmacist and/or clinician as appropriate.
  • Manage, organize, and update relevant data using database applications.

Requirements

  • State registered as a pharmacy technician.
  • Nationally certified as a CPhT or equivalent is strongly preferred but not required.
  • 1+ years of Pharmacy Technician experience strongly preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional phone skills.
  • Comfortable with proactively engaging patients telephonically.
  • Comfortable reaching out to on-site clinicians, payors, and pharmacies telephonically.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Able to quickly learn other programs.
