The Pharmacy Technician PRN position is a vital role within our Pharmacy Services department, where you will work under the direct supervision of the pharmacist(s). Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of pharmacy operations functions that are essential to the effective delivery of medication and patient care. In this role, you will assist in the preparation and distribution of all doses of medication, ensuring that patients receive the correct medications in a timely manner. You will also be responsible for maintaining drug inventories, which includes re-stocking automated dispensing cabinets throughout the hospital, drug packaging and re-packaging, and extemporaneous compounding. Additionally, you will play a key role in the completion of patients' records pertaining to drug therapy, including aminoglycoside protocol orders and drug charges and credits. This position requires attention to detail, a commitment to patient safety, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of all doses of medication.
  • Maintain drug inventories, including re-stocking automated dispensing cabinets throughout the hospital.
  • Perform drug packaging and re-packaging as needed.
  • Engage in extemporaneous compounding of medications.
  • Restock code carts as required.
  • Complete patients' records pertaining to drug therapy, including aminoglycoside protocol orders and drug charges and credits.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current pharmacy technician certification or registration as required by state law.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations and medication distribution processes.
