About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician at Sam's Club, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy department. Your primary responsibilities will include processing member purchases through cash registers and related hardware, while adhering to the appropriate procedures for various payment types and items sold. You will maintain the presentation of merchandise in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating supplies received from distribution centers and suppliers, removing damaged or out-of-date goods, and organizing product displays. Additionally, you will be responsible for securing fragile and high-shrink merchandise to prevent loss. In this role, you will also ensure that the pharmacy area complies with company policies and procedures. This includes properly handling claims and returns, utilizing equipment for merchandising functions, and maintaining a safe work environment. You will monitor and resolve issues in the prescription fulfillment process, which may involve processing information for third-party insurance claims, alerting patients to inventory issues, and identifying situations that require pharmacist intervention. Providing excellent patient/member service is a key aspect of your role. You will assist the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process, process third-party insurance claims, and help patients with their prescription orders and purchases. You will also be responsible for entering prescription data into pharmacy software, filling prescriptions accurately, and assisting members during prescription pick-up. Your work will involve collaboration with managers, co-workers, and customers to complete assignments and prioritize tasks effectively. You will be expected to comply with company policies and standards of ethics and integrity, ensuring that all business processes are executed in accordance with these guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Process member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware.
• Maintain merchandise presentation in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies.
• Handle claims and returns in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Monitor and resolve problems in the prescription fulfillment process.
• Promote and maintain the Pharmacy's professional reputation by assisting the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process.
• Provide patient/member service in the Pharmacy area by acknowledging member needs and assisting with prescription orders.
• Enter prescription data into pharmacy software accurately.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving orders and measuring medications as needed.
• Assist members during prescription pick-up by verifying patient information and marking prescriptions for pick-up.
• Complete work assignments and priorities by collaborating with managers and co-workers.

Requirements

• Meets all state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, including minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure as required by the State Board of Pharmacy.
• Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) within 9 months of job entry.
