About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician at Sam's Club, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy department. Your primary responsibilities will include processing member purchases, maintaining merchandise presentation, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. You will operate cash registers and related hardware, handling various payment types and items sold. Additionally, you will be responsible for stocking and rotating merchandise, removing damaged or out-of-date goods, and organizing product displays to maintain a professional pharmacy environment. In this role, you will also monitor and resolve issues in the prescription fulfillment process. This includes processing information for third-party insurance claims, alerting patients to inventory issues, and identifying situations that require pharmacist intervention. You will assist the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process, ensuring that all paperwork and documentation are completed accurately and securely. Providing excellent patient/member service is essential, as you will be the first point of contact for members in the pharmacy area, helping them with their prescription orders and purchases. You will enter prescription data into pharmacy software, ensuring accuracy in translating prescription information into the system. Filling prescriptions will involve retrieving orders, measuring medications, and labeling prescription containers. You will also assist members during prescription pick-up, verifying patient information and ensuring compliance with corporate policies. Your ability to collaborate with managers, co-workers, and customers will be vital in completing work assignments and addressing improvement opportunities. Overall, your role will be integral to maintaining the pharmacy's professional reputation and providing high-quality service to our members.

Responsibilities

  • Process member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware.
  • Maintain merchandise presentation in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies.
  • Handle claims and returns in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and resolve problems in the prescription fulfillment process.
  • Promote and maintain the Pharmacy's professional reputation by assisting the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process.
  • Provide patient/member service in the Pharmacy area by acknowledging member needs and assisting with prescription orders.
  • Enter prescription data into pharmacy software accurately.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving orders and measuring medications.
  • Assist members during prescription pick-up by verifying patient information.
  • Complete work assignments and priorities by collaborating with managers and co-workers.

Requirements

  • Meets all state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, including minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure as required by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) within 9 months of job entry.
