About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician at Sam's Club, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy department. Your primary responsibilities will include processing member purchases through cash registers and related hardware, while adhering to the appropriate procedures for various payment types and items sold. You will maintain the presentation of merchandise in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating products, removing damaged or expired goods, and organizing product displays. Additionally, you will be responsible for securing fragile and high-shrink merchandise to prevent loss and ensure a safe shopping environment. In this position, you will also be tasked with maintaining the pharmacy area in compliance with company policies and procedures. This includes handling claims and returns, utilizing equipment for merchandising functions, and ensuring that all required paperwork and documentation are completed accurately. You will monitor the prescription fulfillment process, resolving any issues that arise, such as processing third-party insurance claims and alerting patients to inventory shortages or the need for physician authorizations. Providing excellent patient service is a key aspect of this role. You will assist patients with their prescription orders, promote pharmacy products and services, and address any concerns they may have. Your responsibilities will also include entering prescription data into pharmacy software, filling prescriptions accurately, and assisting members during prescription pick-up by verifying their information and ensuring compliance with corporate policies. To succeed in this role, you will need to complete work assignments efficiently by collaborating with managers and co-workers, identifying priorities, and adapting to changes. Compliance with company policies and ethical standards is essential, and you will be expected to implement related action plans as necessary. Responsibilities

  • Process member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware.
  • Maintain merchandise presentation in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies.

  • Handle claims and returns in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and resolve problems in the prescription fulfillment process.
  • Assist the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process and provide patient service.
  • Enter prescription data into pharmacy software accurately.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving orders and preparing medications as needed.
  • Assist members during prescription pick-up and verify patient information.
  • Complete work assignments by collaborating with managers and co-workers.

Requirements

  • Meets all state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, including minimum age and certification.
  • Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) within 9 months of job entry.
