About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician at Sam's Club, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy department. Your primary responsibilities will include processing member purchases through cash registers and related hardware, while adhering to the appropriate procedures for various payment types and items sold. You will maintain the presentation of merchandise in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating products, removing damaged or expired goods, and organizing product displays. This role requires you to ensure that the pharmacy area complies with company policies and procedures, which includes handling claims and returns, utilizing equipment for merchandising functions, and maintaining a safe work environment. In addition to these tasks, you will monitor and resolve issues in the prescription fulfillment process. This involves processing information for third-party insurance claims, alerting patients about inventory issues, and identifying situations that require pharmacist intervention. You will also assist in promoting the pharmacy's professional reputation by providing patients with pharmacy products and services in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. Your duties will include assisting the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process, processing insurance claims, and maintaining necessary documentation. Customer service is a key aspect of this position. You will engage with members by acknowledging their needs, initiating the prescription fulfillment process, and assisting with purchase decisions. You will enter prescription data into pharmacy software, fill prescriptions accurately, and provide assistance during prescription pick-up. Completing work assignments will require collaboration with managers and co-workers, as well as adapting to changes and feedback. Compliance with company policies and ethical standards is essential in executing your responsibilities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Process member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware.

  • Enter prescription data into pharmacy software accurately.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving orders and preparing medications.
  • Provide member assistance during prescription pick-up.

Requirements

  • Must meet all state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, including age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure as required by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) within 9 months of job entry.
