About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician at Sam's Club, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy department. Your primary responsibilities will include processing member purchases, maintaining merchandise presentation, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. You will operate cash registers and related hardware, handling various payment types and items sold. Additionally, you will be responsible for stocking and rotating merchandise, removing damaged or out-of-date goods, and organizing product displays to maintain a professional pharmacy environment. In this role, you will also monitor and resolve issues in the prescription fulfillment process. This includes processing information for third-party insurance claims, alerting patients to inventory issues, and identifying situations that require pharmacist intervention. You will assist the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process, ensuring that patients receive their medications accurately and efficiently. Your duties will also involve entering prescription data into pharmacy software, filling prescriptions, and providing excellent customer service to members. You will be expected to comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity. This includes completing required paperwork, logs, and documentation, as well as collaborating with managers and co-workers to address improvement opportunities. Your role is vital in promoting and maintaining the pharmacy's professional reputation while providing patients with the necessary pharmacy products and services in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.

Responsibilities

  • Process member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware.
  • Maintain merchandise presentation in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies.
  • Handle claims and returns in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and resolve problems in the prescription fulfillment process.
  • Assist the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process and provide patient/member service.
  • Enter prescription data into pharmacy software and fill prescriptions accurately.
  • Provide member assistance during prescription pick-up and verify patient information.
  • Complete work assignments and priorities by collaborating with managers and co-workers.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.

Requirements

  • Meets all state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, including minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) within 9 months of job entry.
