About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician at Sam's Club, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy. Your primary responsibility will be to process member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware, utilizing appropriate procedures for various payment types and items sold. You will maintain the presentation of merchandise in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating supplies received from distribution centers and suppliers, removing damaged or out-of-date goods, and organizing product displays. This includes signing and pricing merchandise and securing fragile and high-shrink items to prevent loss. In addition to merchandising duties, you will be responsible for maintaining the pharmacy area in accordance with company policies and procedures. This involves properly handling claims and returns, utilizing equipment for various merchandising functions, and ensuring a safe work environment. You will also monitor and resolve issues in the prescription fulfillment process, which may include processing information for third-party insurance claims, alerting patients to inventory issues, and identifying situations that require pharmacist intervention. Your role will also involve providing excellent patient/member service by acknowledging their needs, initiating the prescription fulfillment process, and assisting with purchase decisions. You will enter prescription data into pharmacy software, fill prescriptions accurately, and assist members during prescription pick-up by verifying and entering patient information. Completing work assignments and priorities will require collaboration with managers, co-workers, and customers, as well as adapting to changes and feedback. Responsibilities

  • Process member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware.

  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving orders and measuring medications as needed.
  • Assist members during prescription pick-up by verifying patient information.

Requirements

  • Meets all state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, including minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure as required by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) within 9 months of job entry.
