About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician at Sam's Club, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy department. Your primary responsibilities will include processing member purchases through cash registers and related hardware, while adhering to the appropriate procedures for various payment types and items sold. You will maintain the presentation of merchandise in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating products, removing damaged or expired goods, and organizing product displays. This role requires you to ensure that the pharmacy area complies with company policies and procedures, which includes handling claims and returns, utilizing equipment for merchandising functions, and ensuring a safe work environment. In addition to these tasks, you will monitor and resolve issues in the prescription fulfillment process. This involves processing information for third-party insurance claims, alerting patients about inventory issues, and identifying situations that require the pharmacist's intervention. You will also assist in promoting the pharmacy's professional reputation by providing patients with pharmacy products and services in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. This includes assisting with prescription orders, processing insurance claims, and maintaining necessary documentation. Customer service is a key aspect of this position. You will engage with members by acknowledging their needs, initiating the prescription fulfillment process, and assisting with their purchase decisions. You will enter prescription data into pharmacy software, ensuring accuracy in transcribing prescription information and creating or modifying patient records. Filling prescriptions will involve retrieving orders, measuring medications, and labeling containers accurately. You will also assist members during prescription pick-up by verifying patient information and ensuring compliance with corporate policies. Completing work assignments will require collaboration with managers and co-workers, identifying priorities, and adapting to changes as necessary. Compliance with company policies and ethical standards is essential in executing your responsibilities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving orders and measuring medications.
  • Assist members during prescription pick-up by verifying patient information and marking prescriptions for pick-up.
  • Complete work assignments by collaborating with managers and co-workers.

Requirements

  • Meets all state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, including minimum age and certification.
  • Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) within 9 months of job entry.
